the twinkle in my eye

somewhere over the past week or so the twinkle has found her voice and is really getting into vocalising now. sometimes this just means she has a variation on crying and screaming, which is whingeing. but at the good times it means she has started having conversations with us and the pets and the sesame street toys and the fridge and whatever’s around. right now she’s telling the cookie monster a story just behind me.

the best noises that she makes are her sneezes. can’t remember if i blogged about them before but she sneezes like an old man with a baby’s voice. you know the way grandpas go “ah-WESH-shooo!” when they sneeze? that’s what she does with her little voice, and then follows it up with a little “woooo!”. it’s the cutest and i’d love to video it and show you on you tube (if kevin07 can do it, so can i) but it’s impossible to anticipate when she’s going to sneeze.

last thursday was our first “new parents group” meeting and yesterday we went to our next one. so far only i’ve been, but i hope special k will be able to come to some. yesterday the twinkle was the star of the show – everyone was complimenting her, which sort of surprised me because i think she’s lovely and amazing, but i don’t expect every mum to agree with me!

“oh, she’s so cute, how do you not just eat her up?”

“she’s so petite! she’s precious!”

“she’s so well dressed – sweetheart, i’m going to have to dress you to compete with the twinkle next week”

“you can tell she’s got so much personality.”

“she’s so ladylike” (here i choked on my nesc@fe and family assorted biscuits – she doesn’t get that from us!)

she put on a great show where she sat on my lap giving everyone the doe-eyed look, then magically fell asleep unaided and snoozed peacefully on my lap for a good 45 minutes, then woke up again to look around and smile at people. you couldn’t have choreographed a better performance.

awwwww! That is too cute! I have sneeze envy!

Ever since Patrick was born I have tried to impress upon my mummies group how loudly he can scream, and I think they all thought I was over-catastrophising because Patrick always seems to be on his best behaviour with company. But last week at the pool he howled and howled whilst they were looking after him, and I think it shocked them. I was like, I told you so.

‘Ladylike’. Snigger

oh yeah, i forgot to mention that she started crying as soon as the group ended, then squawked all the way to the supermarket, then screamed while i set her up in the trolley, as disapproving shoppers waited. charming.

I’m torn about Seths screaming – I sort of want him to behave in front of other people and be adorable so they love him like I love him, but I also want to prove that he’s as bad as I say he is instead of everyone thinking I’m lying about the colic!
Love the Twinkle shot – she can’t help but love the gorgeous Seth. They could howl beautifully together!
